Stein Deli

This is by the far the best sandwich spot in all of New Orleans. The owner, Dan, is very friendly and familiar with faces. I’ve only been a handful of times and he recognizes me when I go in.

Philly prideeeeeeee

I found out that the owner is from Philly, and so he serves cheese-steaks for lunch on Tuesday (limited amount so they serve it until they run out). this is by far the best cheese steak sandwich in New Orleans (and quite on par with some cheesesteaks i’ve had in Philly).

Tuscan panini

the tuscan panini has Tuscan ham, artichokes, red onion, house-made fresh mozarella, pressed on focaccia with a side of balsamic aioli. the balsamic aioli was the perfect blend of tangy and savory. the house-made fresh mozarella was delicious and subtle and worked wonders with the artichokes and red onion in the background of the ham. the ham wasn’t overly salty.

south philly roast pork sandwich

this South Philly Roast Pork sandwich is the lunch special on Thursdays. Omg, this sandwich blew my mind! i couldn’t get enough of the sauteed broccoli rabe. the aged provolone was sooo smelly and sharp! i loved it! the roast pork was good, but I would’ve liked some more jus. i guess i’ve been spoiled by the juicy roast pork sandwiches at Dinic’s at the Reading Terminal Market in Philly. but in terms of restaurants in new orleans, this sandwich was a far cry from other sandwiches in the area and definitely sets my standards higher for New Orleans eateries.

I was craving a reuben today and Stein filled that sandwich shaped hole in my heart and stomach. the hot corned beef was a welcome addition to my frozen body. i had it on the seeded rye bread which was a perfect compliment to the russian dressing sweetness and tang of the corned beef. the sauerkraut was a juicy filler. overall, to sum it up in one word, delicious!
