Flour Power in New Orleans

This cake has fully restored my faith in all living social deals, groupon coupons and restaurant.com certificates. Groupon coupon offered a 8 inch cake for 50%, cutting the price from $32 to $16.  Finding this place was not easy though, I passed by it three times and had to cut across 5 lanes to end up at my destination (GPS said it was on the opposite side of the street and a huge tree was blocking the front of this place making the sign and street number invisible from the busy street I was driving on).

I ordered the chocolate mocha hazelnut crunch cake: six layers of chocolate cake filled with a Frangelica praline butter cream, topped with mocha butter icing, & garnished with chocolate coffee beans.  This cake was heavy! Really really heavy, I was shocked when I lifted it for the first time. BUT, this beautiful cake was flawless in its presentation with much attention to minute details (although the shop that it came from was a bit bare, I guess they hide all the magic in the back). The chocolate cake was moist and decadent especially with the praline undertones. The chocolate flavor played very well with the mocha cream, reminiscent of coffee flavoring. This was an all star cake from an all star bakery (i think they only do fancy cakes, not really like la boulangerie or la madeleine where you can get individual sized desserts). But if I were a bride, I would definitely do a cake sampling here!
