This is a gluten-free joint, I feel like a member of the owner’s family probably has celiac’s disease. I was very sad to see a lot of items on the menu go like the cheese finger appetizers and all empanadas.
We started off with a tostones appetizer. A word to the wise: don’t order plantains if your main entrees come with a side of plantains. You will have plantains coming out of your ears!
Since their menu says they have empanadas but they don’t serve those anymore they brought out chicken arepas which is pieces of chicken in tomato sauce on thin corn bread. I didnt find this very tasty until I added ton of hot sauce which cost an extra 50 cents.
The arroz con pollo (all the items on the menu are under their Spanish names making it pretty hard for non-Spanish speakers to pronounce the dishes when ordering. It was hilarious listening to Joe try to order in Spanish. He ended up having to describe the dish in English for the woman on the other end of the phone to understand). The meat was succulent and delicious on the bone. The rice and plantains were not that great.
I had the shredded steak which had a ton of flavor. I liked the black beans which came with the dish but not the rice or plantains.
